Rigor before the elegant explanation
My research spans probability, stochastic processes, queueing theory, algorithms and applied data analysis. In 2026 I continue to publish new research and preprints.
Research and publications →Research, university teaching, industry, online courses and public speaking are not separate careers for me. They are different ways of understanding difficult ideas and explaining them well enough to be useful.

I work across data analysis, statistics, probability, algorithms and AI. I am a Senior Lecturer at Holon Institute of Technology and a Guest Lecturer at the University of Haifa.
My background spans academia and industry, but education has always been a major part of my work: university courses, public webinars, online courses and YouTube. I do not just want to give the correct answer. I want to show where it comes from, where it may fail, and how to check it.
I value being someone who still researches, still teaches, and also builds educational products directly.

Research and publications →I teach Data Science, statistics, probability and related subjects. Strong student ratings and feedback repeatedly highlight clear explanations, patience and the extra materials that make difficult topics easier to understand. On Stepik, the flagship course is rated 4.9/5 from 158 reviews and has 26,282 learners.
How I teach →Courses in Data Analysis, Critical Thinking and Data Analysis in the Age of AI, together with Stepik and YouTube, have turned years of university teaching into an open learning ecosystem reaching tens and hundreds of thousands of learners.
Courses and resources →With Prof. Henk Tijms, I co-authored Surprises in Probability Theory: eighteen stories in which mathematical ideas grow out of real problems.
About the book →I have spoken at professional and academic events since 2013, on topics ranging from software engineering and Big Data to stochastic models and AI-assisted education.
Speaking →Microsoft, Intel, Skype, Huawei and later Data Science work gave me an engineering habit: test constraints, measure outcomes and never confuse an elegant model with a useful solution.
I do not think a difficult subject has to be made simplistic. It has to be broken into understandable steps, given intuition, and then connected back to mathematical rigor.
That is why my courses combine formulas with real data, interactive exercises, visualization, games, short videos and now AI tools. Not for decoration, but so learners can test ideas themselves, get faster feedback and see the connection between theory and a real problem.
Student feedback matters to me because it says more about teaching than a list of titles does.
“Thank you for the wonderful explanations, exercises and dedication. We especially appreciated the quiz panel and friendly YouTube videos that made the material clearer and more engaging.”Probability course students · 2025–2026See student feedback →
Not a full CV, but a few points that explain how my current way of working developed.
MSc in Computer Science, University of Haifa, summa cum laude; BSc in Computer Science with honors; PhD in Data Analysis and Statistics, University of Haifa, 2022.
Software engineering, video algorithms, algorithmic and engineering work.
Senior Lecturer at HIT, Guest Lecturer at the University of Haifa; formerly Lecturer and Course Coordinator at the Open University of Israel and Senior Data Scientist at the University of Haifa data analysis center.
Public talks and free education initiatives have run in parallel with my university teaching for many years. Today the Russian-language YouTube channel has 276K+ subscribers and Stepik 33K+.
In August–September 2026 I have three public preprints and six additional manuscripts already submitted to journals, while further projects continue in combinatorics and discrete probability. In teaching, I experiment with ways AI can make data education more interactive and meaningful — without replacing thinking with ready-made answers.
